Cosmic Baseball Game Report
2007 VRETROs @ 1975 Boston Red Sox
Red Sox Win, 3-2
![]()
The 1975 BOSTON RED SOX were stricken by a Mercury retrograde.
(The 1975 Red Sox were not unlike their 1967 brethren who fought a World Series under the influence of a Saturn retrograde and an impending Mercury retrograde. The 1986 Red Sox lost during the seventh game of the World Series also influenced by a Venus retrograde. In 2004, none of the closer planets in our solar system were retrograde and the Red Sox won their first World Series since 1918. The Red Sox won their 1918 title on September 11, 1918 the day after Mercury stopped its apparent retrograde motion.)
The 2007 VRETROs do not have the tradition package or the deep historical database that the Boston Red Sox have. The VRETROS are a non-humanoid cosmic baseball team created during the 2007 Venus retrograde (July 27-September 8).
(Parenthetically, it is our prediction that the 2007 Boston Red Sox may get to the World Series although this is not certain. What is certain is that even if they get to the 2007 World Series they will lose before the seventh game. If however the series goes to a seventh game, the Red Sox could win...if it is played as currently scheduled on November 1. This calculated prediction is based on the fact that Mercury will be retrograde from October 12-31. On November 1 Mercury will resume forward motion. The World Series is currently scheduled to begin October 24 (Mercury will be retrograde at 29 degrees Libra).

The 2007 VRETROs
The VRETRO team is comprised of a series of videos (Windows Media Video files) assembled for the 2007 Venus Retrograde Project. Players on the 2007 VRETRO roster were all "created" during the 2007 Venus retrograde period which occurred July 27-September 8, 2007. The mythology, astrology and astronomy associated with the "second rock from the Sun" (Earth's closest planetary neighbor) is complex and extensive. From the beginning of time (?), Venus, like the Moon, Sun, Mercury, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn could be seen in the skies by humans beings. Today we associate Venus with love and romance. This is an "evolution" from the time when Venus was associated with catastrophe and calamity. The Aztecs sacrificed human beings to appease Venus (Quetzalcoatl, Tlahuizcalpantecuhtli, Xolotl). Postmodern culture pays far less attention to Venus than our ancestors. Root causes for calamities are now more often found here at home. The Venus Retrograde Project took advantage of the retrograde period to counter the relative indifference to our celestial sister, if only for a few moments.

The 1975 Boston Red Sox
The 1975 edition of the Boston Red Sox included two phenomenal rookie outfielders in the souls of Freddie Lynn and Jim Rice. Rice did not play in the 1975 World Series becuase of an injury. Lynn went on to become American League's Rookie of the Year and the league's Most Valuable Player (MVP). It is Carlton Fisk, the Red Sox' Capricorn Catcher who many will associate with the 1975 World Series. His 12th inning homerun in the sixth game pushed the series to a decisive seventh game. A photographer in the scoreboard of the green monster caught Fisk on the path to firstbase using his body to will the ball into fair territory as it sailed down the left field line. Ultimately the this team of Red Sox was star-crossed as they lost the seventh game to the Cincinnati Reds, 9-5, just as Mercury resumed its forward motion between 9 and 10 degrees Libra. 1975 Boston Red Sox Roster (Uniform Number Sort)
