Calamity Jane, Leftfield
Also known as Martha Jane Canary, Calamity Jane was an American frontiers woman whowandered the mining districts of the American west. Orphaned at 15 Calamity Jane settled inDeadwood, part of the Dakota Territory and became a friend of Wild Bill Hickock. She couldfrequently be seen, dressed like a man, at bars telling stories of real and imagined adventures. In1891 she married a cabdriver named Clinton Burke who soon left her. She is buried inDeadwood, next to her companion, Wild Bill.
