The fictional spy James Bond and the real filmmaker Woody Allen appear to be polar opposites. Bond is a tall, suave, handsome, gun-toting, fearless secret agent. Allen is a clever, short, sometimes clumsy, wit-endowed neurotic.

There is a similarity. Both attract beautiful women. This suggests that one key to successful intimate romances is to pursue a career on the big screen. Movie-stardom most definitely facillitates the search for love and some of its relatives.

Thoughtful essays on the Bond and Allen psyches have been published and discussed at psychological and cinematic seminars.

In July 2010 Psychology Today published an aticle about James Bond's psyche.

In January 2012 a series of film screenings followed by discussions (featuring cinema and psychoanalysis experts) examining Woody Allen, the most deliberately neurotic American filmmaker took place in Kansas City.

There is a cinematic intersection between James Bond and Woody Allen. Ian Fleming published Casino Royale in 1953. In 1967 the movie Casino Royale was released. This was not an official Bond film. It was a comical rendition of the Fleming novel. Woody Allen plays two characters: Dr. Noah (the head of SMERSH) and Jimmy Bond, James' nephew.

U.S. President John Kennedy told Life magazine in 1961 that the novel From Russia with Love, was one of his favorite books. Published in 1957 by Ian Fleming, Kennedy was assasinated before the movie version of the book was released in 1964.

Woody Allen's directorial debut was the 1966 film What's Up, Tiger Lily?, in which a dramatic Japanese spy movie was re-dubbed in English with completely new, comic dialog.

Sean Connery was born in Scotland. His father was a milkman. As an adolescent Connery became a body builder and when Cary Grant turned down the Bond role for the first Bond film Dr. No, Connery landed the part. The bodybuilder from Edinburgh morphed on the silver screen into a "gentleman spy" beloved by movie audiences around the world.
