The Franklinton Zappas are a new cosmic team for the 1997 season. They compete in the Cosmic Under League. The Zappas consist of the first 25 albums that the American composer and rock musician Frank Zappa released. The album/players cover the years from 1966 to 1979.
Francis Vincent Zappa (1940-1993), an iconoclastic and irreverent citizen released over 50 albums during his life and in the process earned the respect of those who care and appreciate music. Michael Walsh wrote in Time magazine shortly after Zappa's death that "[Zappa] was the most protean and adventurous American composer of his generation." Early in life, Zappa was influenced by modern musical theories and composers. The tale of his telephone call, when Zappa was fifteen, to the composer Edgar Varese is well-known in Zappa lore.
In addition to his musical talents, Zappa had a biting and satirical social wit that took aim at all pretense from the hypocrisy of American politics to the mindlessness of the hippie's ethics. He constantly encouraged his listeners to register to vote, to participate in the democracy. He was an active, visible, and vocal spokesman against censorship of any kind. He testified in the 1980s before the United States Congress against a planned rating system for music albums.
A creative soul, Zappa arrogantly but accurately described his work when he wrote: "My music makes the mind think."

There are many Zappa resources on the World Wide Web. Several sites are listed here. Most of these sites contain excellent updated links. Others contain useful and interesting information about Zappa, his music, his activism, or other related information.

Each album/player is linked to the lyrics to songs found on the album. The link is to a site running on the WWW server at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Amsterdam. Known as St. Alphonzo's Pancake Homepage for Zappa Fans it is maintained by Robbert Heederik. CBA would like to extend our grateful thanks to Mr. Heederik for his painstaking efforts.
The list of musicians and song lists have been adapted from the alt.fan.frank-zappa Frequently Asked Questions document maintained by Vinksu Chandrasekhar. The January 18, 1995 edition of that FAQ was used. CBA thanks Mr. Chandrasekhar for his research efforts.
