COMMENTS:The Presidents had a chance to put the Series to bed, but, instead, the let this one slip by. The Series is tied at 3 games each and we now move to the decisive final seventh game.
The Presidents didn't even get on the board until the sixth inning after the Busriders had already registered six runs. Busrider designated hitter Paul Foster, the "two-tone dude", blasted another 2-run homerun in the Busrider part of the sixth inning. Foster has hit three homeruns and leads the pack in runs batted in (RBIs). If the Busriders go on to win the Series, Foster is going to get the Series Most Cosmic Player award for sure.
President Abraham Lincoln pitched a complete game and therein lies part of the problem. While he can strikeout just about anybody at any time (he had 11 strikeouts today) he can also lob the fat curve ball which batters like the Busriders love to cream. Of course, Abe wasn't helped by the defense which committed three errors allowing three unearned runs. Nevertheless, the Presidents trust Lincoln maybe too much. After a very shaky third inning, maybe Lincoln should have been relieved? Okay, the errors didn't help, but Abe looked rattled.
Jane Burton who pitched nine shutout innings in game one, pitched another 6 plus scoreless innings in Game 6 and has a goose egg for an earned run average. Why Busrider Manager Ken Babbs brought Bobby Tombarelli, a bakerman's son, in to relieve Burton in the middle of the sixth is a mystery that will go unanswered for the moment. But there was a heated discussion on the mound after Burton surrendered a bloop single to President John Quincy Adams.
So it's on to Game 7 and it's do or die time.
