This personal cosmic game was inspired by the annual St. Patrick's Day celebration. The two teams met at dawn and three hours later there was a winner.

The ST PATRICK'S LAND team consists of notable writers with an association to the land of Ireland. The McNAMARA'S BAND team is a team of women performance artists led by McNamara from town to town.

Some will already be familiar with the St. Patrick's players. They are all distinguished contributors to literature and most high school graduates will have seen there names as they matriculated through English, language and literature classes required for a high school degree.

Others may not be so familiar with McNamara's players. Some will know that there is a popular Bing Crosby song, released in 1946, called McNamara's Band. However that's a different McNamara and a different ban even though the tune is often used in the Band's performances. The McNamara's band on the cosmic baseball field consists of performance artists, trained and directed by Mr. McNamara.

Mr. Patrick McNamara got his start in performance art when he was the Swedish Nightingale's assistant during her early and wild carrer with Barnum. (And it should be noted, McNamara fell in love with the singing star, but it was unrequited.) After learning about showmanship (from Barnum) and women (from Jenny Lind) McNamara left and created his own traveling band of female performance artists. Typically the Band arrives in town, has a parade, plays an exhibition game of sloshball and then offers private performance to desiring citizens.

St. Patrick's focus was more spiritual than physical. However our contemporary celebrations of his death (he died on March 17) have become festivals of alcohol drinking...creating an environment where the talents of McNamara's Band are more appropriate. Look at the score.
