This season's PAUL ARTHUR MEMORIAL COSMIC BASEBALL GAME is a rematch of the 2009 memorial game. Chapters from Paul Arthur's A Line of Sight host chapters from Visionary Film by P. Adams Sitney. This personal cosmic game is played each season in honor of the memory of Paul Arthur. Paul was a fine filmmaker, an inspired teacher, and a former commissioner of the Cosmic Baseball Association. |

Potted Psalm (1946) directed by James Broughton & Sidney Peterson |
| In the program notes accompanying a screening of the Peterson/Broughton film, The Potted Psalm, (this game's most cosmic player) Peterson wrote, "It is perhaps wanting too much from art to expect it to perform the kinds of miracles ordinarily demanded of world statesman." The admixture of politics and art, rich in history and myth, is a theme that Paul Arthur is always sensitive to in A Line of Sight. The political/cultural connections are not lost on Sitney in Visionary Film. The very proficient performance of The Potted Psalm which helped secure a victory for the Sitney book chapters in this cosmic baseball game, can be used to confirm the observation that art is a political process and all politics is bifocal. | |
