Season Opener. The champion Wonderland Warriors picked up right where they left off last season and roundly, soundly defeated the Paradise Pisces. Thomas Dry Howie, heroic World War II warrior, also known as the "Major of St. Lo" pitched a phenomenal complete game, yielding no runs, and striking out four. But the Most Cosmic Player of the game was Warrior catcher and first woman in the United States Air Force, Esther Blake. She racked up four hits (3 singles and a double), two runs batted in, and one run to lead the Warrior's potent offense. Pisces starter Vanessa Williams gave up eleven hits in eight innings, but only two of the four runs scored by the Warriors were earned. The Pisces defense was weak up the middle, both George Harrison and Spike Lee commited fielding errors. Bottom line: The Warriors look strong and the Pisces will have to improve to be competitive. | ||||||
