The ALPHATOWN IONIANS are the Cosmic Baseball Association's team of philosophers and scientists. While in recent seasons scientists have dominated the rosters there has most recently been a shift back to philosophers, especially old ones. For example, two deactivated Ionians who have been playing in the Pre-Socratic league have been re-activated for this season. The Ionians selected one rookie for this season: German philosopher and social thinker Oswald Spengler, author of the book The Decline of Western Civilization (Eng. tr. 1921). The ALPHATOWN IONIANS have made more trips (6) to the Cosmic Universal Series than any other cosmic baseball team. | ||
