Paradise Pisces
![]()
The Paradise Pisces are the Cosmic Baseball Association's oldest team, having played cosmic baseball continuously since 1981. They have compiled a composite won-lost record of 1277-1153, yielding a .526 winning percentage. This year's rendition continues the tradition of a diverse Pisces team. Of the 22 current roster players, five are women. 20th century writers dominate the overall roster (Corso, Ginsberg, Joyce, Kersade, H. Miller, and Nin) but the Beat Generation writers (Corso, Ginsberg) lost a representative (Whalen has been traded back to the Dharma Beats). Filmmakers have two representatives (Bunuel, Frampton), rocket science retains its one icon (Goddard) as do Native Americans, Criminals, and Animals (Sitting Bull, Capone, Digit).
Psychology has two icons (Freud, Leary). The scandal field has one representative (Kopechne); so does religion (Farrakhan). The fields of music and art each have one icon on the roster (Jagger, Warhol). The technology field regains its spot on the roster with a rookie pitcher (Major) and for the first time in several seasons a fictional character has made the roster in a coaching capacity (Siryn). Sexuality (see below) gets strong representation with the addition of two free agents from the Underleagues (J. Miller, Sade) and adolescence is represented by three roster members (C. Clinton, Lampert, Maier).
Henry Miller, the Pisces field manager for the last six seasons has completely revamped the coaching staff which now has three new rookie coaches (Lampert, Maier, Siryn). But more interestingly, Miller who has at best a mediocre record as a manager (overall he has a won-lost record of 936-956 and with the Pisces he has a fair 408-402 record) has begun to imprint the Pisces with his unique brand of aesthetics. Adding June Miller, Luis Bunuel, and the Marquis de Sade to a team already consisting of Sigmund Freud, James Joyce, Anna Marie Kersade and Virginia Woolf only enhances the distinctively erotic tint of the team. Of course, having Anais Nin as your general manager does not fade the erotic hue of this season's Paradise Pisces.
